Thin House | Urban Infill
The “Thin House” is the result of folding, shaping, cutting, and stacking an existing building to be nestled within an alleyway in Cincinnati’s OTR district.
Following a precedent study, the envelope of the Bailey House was abstracted and then manipulated digitally to create an abstract parti. That parti was further hand-manipulated into a folded paper model that was to be re-transcribed digitally to produce a new form to be used as the envelope for this project. The result is a sculptural structure that honors and challenges the paper fold allowing for unique living spaces and viewing platforms.
